Hyper Optometrists

I visited Hyper Optometrist in Durban North, situated in Pick and Pay Hypermarket on 24 February 2024. I was quoted by the receptionist R2300.00, for the frame. After consulting with the owner and optometrist, Shaun, it was agreed between ourselves that he would claim the said frame from my Discovery Medical Aid fund. For R2300.00. I was informed by my medical aid on Wednesday, 28 February that Shaun submitted a claim of my behalf for R4500.00 and not the agreed R2300,00. I called his office immediately and queried this. I was informed by a very rude and aggressive Shaun, that the medical aid is wrong and that he submitted the claim for R2900,00. Even though this was still not the price we agreed on. My sister-in-law was witness to this agreement between myself and Shaun on Saturday. Only once I provided Shaun with the factual evidence from my medical aid, did he agree that he claimed the wrong amount by ‘accident’. I demanded a full refund and in turn I will return the frames. Shaun refused to do so, told me to f*ck off, and closed the phone. My medical aid has provided supportive documents, to report Shaun’s dishonesty to the The Health Professions Council of South Africa is a statutory body. It seems to be a pattern with Shaun, as more people has come forward with similar complaints. We will use all avenues available to ensure that Shaun is held responsible for his blatant dishonesty.
